We soak the beans the night before. The next day we put in a pot fabas the same water in which we had to soak and add the remaining ingredients (you will want to add more water until it cover everything). We put it to a simmer and cook for about 4 or 5 hours. When they see that the beans are soft, we take the salt and serve.
